Frequently Asked Questions

Booking an appointment is as easy and booking through the ONLINE BOOKING tab or calling 0422 770 243.

Being a primary care professional, a GP referral is NOT required to book an Osteopathy appointment.

Medical History

  1. Your Osteopath will first take a detailed medical and presenting complaint history which will elaborate on the information that you provided in your new patient form. The reason for this is to determine if it may be contributing to your pain. As Osteopaths, we focus on the body as a whole and want to know as much information about you as possible. It also helps us to rule out if anything more serious is causing your pain and helps us to develop a personalized management plan.
  2.  You will then discuss your differential diagnoses (what they think is going on) and your prognosis (how long will it take to get better).

Assessment

  1. You will then perform an Osteopathic assessment to determine the exact cause of your pain. It will consist of a range of different movements, Orthopedic testing and specific special tests if required. The assessment may seem a little funny and awkward but is important part of the treatment.

Treatment

  1. You will then be asked to lay on the table and the treatment will begin. You Osteopath will be asking for constant feedback on how you’re feeling, but if you feel as though the pressure may be too hard or soft, don’t feel pressured to simply let them know.
  2. Once the treatment is completed you will then discuss any further management (including exercises, potential for referrals or investigation, etc).

Important Information

  1. If at any time you have any questions, please ask away, we will be more than happy to answer them for you.
  2. During your appointment, your Osteopath may ask you to undress to optimally work through specific areas, HOWEVER, IF YOU FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE, PLEASE TELL YOUR OSTEOPATH and the treatment will commence without you disrobing.

Private health may be claimed provided you firstly have extras and secondly have Osteopathy as an extra. Each private health fund will provide different rebates and the rebate will be different for each person depending on their level of cover and how much has already been claimed. A gap payment will then be required to complete the payment.

Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plans can also be claimed after your treatment if you have been referred by your GP. You are required to pay the cost of your appointment and the rebate can then be claimed back directly into the check or savings account.

For further information regarding the cost of appointments please get in contact with us.
